From the days before potting and selling friends and visitors would always managed to ‘relieve / liberate’ odd bits from under the watchful eye of the ‘chief gardener’ and even now-a- days it is not at all unusual to see this practice still happening.

It all started as a passionate hobby, selling excess plants at the odd garden market. A little bit of ‘bagging up’ of left overs – friends asking for odd roses as another flying visit to Ludwig’s Roses of JHB returned with the spoils of war. The potting up expanded to a mass sprawl under the trees in one section of the garden and then to levelled plots under the trees with pot stands springing up and a maze of sprinklers. More staff were hired with courses in potting and plant propagation given as a starter. A heated propagation bed was purchased and installed. It was clear a passion had bubbled over.

The expansion and levelling of land with the car park and proper shade house facilities with water systems that can fertilise and provide a biosphere for the nursery plants to flourish with-in was the next logical step.

With the same passion and in pursuit of service excellence Fay and John aim to give you the gardener or landscaper something different. A unique experience not only in the selection of the usual and unusual but to allow you the opportunity to see the plants in the garden. They want to talk gardening and help you with your plans. This is not about paying for knowledge; it is about sharing a passionate hobby.
